Please note that Broadband is not available to customers who have a PBX telephone system connected to their line.

If you have an ISDN or "Hi-Speed" Line

Please note that if customers have an ISDN or "Hi-Speed" line, they must first downgrade this telephone line to an "analogue" PSTN line.

How will customers be billed for the service?

NewTel Broadband will be charged on their monthly NewTel bill. Similarly to line rental their first broadband charge will include one month in advance together with the proportion of the first month used prior to the bill being issued. Thereafter the service is billed monthly in advance.

Will an engineer call to the customer's house?

No engineer will call to the customer's home as NewTel Home Broadband is a self-install service.

If a customer is providing their own ADSL router/modem, the settings required are:

Driver: PPPoE
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Set up type: LLC

DNS Servers (server assigned):
Primary: 194.46.192.141
Secondary: 194.46.192.142

In RoI the standard is PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)

Why do customers need to log in again every time I turn their PC on? Is ADSL not always on?

NewTel Broadband is an 'always on' connection, which means customers can stay connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week as long as their computer is turned on. They may need to log in again after their computer has been turned off, if their broadband modem is powered by the USB port on their Windows PC or Mac. Our modems are powered by mains power so this should not be an issue.
